Season One Finale!

Hi, thanks for joining me for another episode of the Casual Dance Teachers podcast. And if you can believe it, this is the last episode of season one of the Casual Dance Teachers podcast. That is mind blowing to me.

There's not really a specific theme to this episode. It's basically just me hopping on to say thank you and wrap up and give a little tiny sneak peek at what's to come. So if you've been a devoted listener of the podcast, then a you'll know that I'm Maia Mahosky, the host of the podcast.

And you'll also know that I had mentioned before that I will be taking a break from the podcast to line up essentially with my recital time. We all know how busy that gets. And I don't want to stress myself out or have too much on my plate other than just leaning into recital time and enjoying everything that goes along with that.

So I'm taking a couple months off to focus on that and also have a little bit of downtime after my recital. And my plans are to continue the podcast with a new season starting around August, which would be for me right before I jump back into the new dance season. During that time, however, the Casual Dance Teachers network is still going to be very much alive and well.

So this isn't really the end of anything. I still have the Casual Dance Teachers network group on Facebook and will be actively participating in that. So if you have any questions or anything that you'd like to share, you are more than welcome to share that on that platform.

I'm also on Instagram at the Casual Dance Teachers podcast and my contact information is in my Instagram bio if you need to send me a personal email or you can DM me as well. I would recommend an email because I'm a bit more organized about checking my emails. But I did want to put a little plug in if you are a dance educator or dance professional in any capacity and you have an idea of a topic that you would like to share about, absolutely reach out to me.

I'd love to hear your ideas and potentially have you as a guest on the podcast if that's something that you're interested in. So as I'm working on season two, we already have a number of exciting guests lined up, but I would love to hear from you and add some more guests to that lineup. Feel free to reach out to me either on Instagram or in the Facebook group.

Now, if you have not been listening to the podcast from the beginning, this kind of goes without saying, I think, but during the downtime, go back and catch up on some of the past episodes. We have so many fantastic episodes out, so many amazing different topics. And some of the topics when I sat down and started talking to the guests, what we had planned to focus on and what we ended up delving into were kind of different and unexpected.

And that's one of my favorite things about doing this podcast is that just like teaching dance, you can go in with all the plans in the world and have a really set lesson plan. But once you start feeling out the dancers and seeing what's going on, you're always going to tweak things and learn and grow as you go and change up the plan to accommodate the energy in the room. And the podcast is no different.

And that has given me so much growth personally and professionally. So I'm really, really grateful to each and every guest that has been on the show and everyone that has been active in the social media groups and pages, giving me feedback, sharing what they liked and didn't like, sharing teaching tips that work for them or about their own recitals or class structure. There's been this amazing transfer of information both on the show and behind the scenes.

And it's just so exciting. And I'm really, really excited to continue that momentum. Within each of the past episodes, again, just a reminder, check out the show notes if it's a topic that you're really interested in, or you really loved the guests and what they had to share.

I am really deliberate about including that guest's personal or professional information and resources that they shared on the show. So maybe you listened to the episode and you thought that one was great, it really resonated with me, but you haven't delved into everything that that guest has to offer. Check out all the show notes, click on the links to connect with your favorite guests.

Every single guest, as I'm thinking back, had so much more to say about the topic that we got into. And in many, many cases, had so many other topics that I was almost torn booking guests this season. Like, oh, I'm so excited to have you as a guest on the show.

And I wish I could talk to you about this, this and this. But for the podcast, we have to keep it to just this. So again, if you were excited by the guest, check out all of their resources.

That's such a great springboard into this additional wealth of knowledge. Another area where I wanted to remind you, you can get more like this over the summer break is at the Mid-Atlantic Dance Educator Summit. I've talked about this before on the show.

I am going to be one of the guest teachers at the summit, which is being held on July 15th, 2025. I'm going to be doing a lesson planning power hour group, helping walk you through creating a core curriculum and specific lesson plans for any class that you're teaching. And I'm really honored to be presenting at that conference alongside so many amazing dance educators.

There are so many different styles being represented, so many different seminars, technique classes, roundtable discussions. I am just so excited for that event and to see everything that comes out of it for the attendees and the presenters. So I hope to see you there.

Any other updates of things that I have going on or things that I think would be great resources to you during this break period between the two seasons of the podcast, I will be sure to share in the Casual Dance Teachers Network Facebook group. So that's the best way to stay up to date with additional resources that I'd like to share with you. Thank you again to everyone that listened.

I didn't just want to come on here and toot my own horn, but our listening audience has really grown tremendously since I launched the podcast. And I am really grateful for that. And I'm really proud of that.

It's a great accomplishment. I feel so proud and again, so honored that I've had this opportunity and that I am connecting with more and more people. So I really want to thank every single guest that came on the show and helped me grow the audience by providing so much value, insights, and sharing it with your own circles and communities.

Everyone who has participated in our social media pages in any way and anyone that's that's just listened at all. I hope that you have gotten more out of it than you've given. That is always my goal.

Just like with teaching dance, I want to pour myself in and hope that it transfers at least just a little bit. Finally, as we know, there's always room for growth. So even if you personally are not interested in being a guest or don't have a specific topic in mind, feel free to reach out to me and weigh in on what topics resonated with you, whether you would prefer to see more guest interviews or more of me just sharing my ideas and sort of brainstorm style episodes.

Any feedback is really, really appreciated. And I am already working on season two, as I've mentioned. So the sooner that you can give me feedback, the sooner I can help shape the podcast to be the best resource it can possibly be for you.

Thank you again. And I have a very fitting final quote to close with. To be completely honest, I think I might have used this quote before on a previous episode.

I cannot remember. And I just was not in the place to do the work to go back and check. I don't know why I don't have a system in place to know what quotes I've used and which quotes I haven't.

I've talked on the show before about how I'm so super organized, I have a system and a process for everything. But that one slipped through the cracks. So you might be getting the same quote twice.

But I feel like in this conversation about learning and growing and how the podcast has been such a great platform for that for me, this was the right quote to close with today. And this is a quote from Jacques D'Amboise. "So I think I would say enjoy the process of learning to dance. The process of our profession and not its final achievement is the heart and soul of dance."

Thank you so much, everyone. I will see you in a few short months back on the podcast and hopefully see you in the meantime as well.
